7 Salesforce Service Cloud Alternatives for Consumer Brands

Facts checked 28 September 2026. Every vendor fact below comes from that vendor's own documentation or pricing page, checked on that date and linked. We make Flowcall. It's listed first because this list is written for high-volume consumer brands, the buyers it's built for; its entry is held to the same standard.

The best Salesforce Service Cloud alternative for a consumer brand is the one built for the conversations that fill your queue: order, delivery, return and refund questions on WhatsApp, Instagram, email and phone. If that's most of your volume and Service Cloud feels heavy for it, look at Flowcall, Kustomer, Gladly, Gorgias, Zendesk, Freshdesk Omni or HubSpot Service Hub; if your service runs on complex cases, contracts and a company-wide Salesforce CRM, Service Cloud is probably still the right choice, and you may only need to simplify it.

Short answer

  • WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, email and phone, with the AI set up and improved by the vendor's team, and Salesforce kept as the record if you want: Flowcall.
  • A single customer timeline like Salesforce's, built around conversations: Kustomer.
  • Phone is a big channel and you want one continuous conversation per customer: Gladly.
  • Shopify-first brand that wants a self-serve tool: Gorgias.
  • A broad platform your own admins configure, with a packaged Salesforce sync: Zendesk or Freshdesk Omni.
  • Moving CRM and service off Salesforce together: HubSpot Service Hub.
  • Staying on Salesforce but wanting AI with less setup: Salesforce's own Help Agent, or Fin (formerly Intercom); see "Before you replace it".

Who this list is for

This list is for the person who runs customer service at a consumer brand that uses Service Cloud today, or has it on a shortlist because the rest of the company runs on Salesforce. Most of your contacts are about orders: where is it, can I change the address, it arrived damaged, I want to return it, where's my refund. Customers write on WhatsApp and Instagram as well as email and chat, and some of them call.

It isn't for internal IT or HR help desks, B2B account support, or teams replacing Salesforce as a sales CRM. If you aren't on Salesforce and want a wider shortlist, start with our guide to ecommerce help desk software.

When Service Cloud is the right choice

Service Cloud is not a weak product. Salesforce sells it as one platform for customer service, field service and employee service, with Agentforce AI agents on top (Salesforce: Service Cloud). Keep it, or choose it, if most of these are true:

  • The rest of the company runs on Salesforce. Sales, marketing or commerce already live there, and service agents need the same account and order records. Salesforce's own pitch against Zendesk rests on this: one platform, industry solutions, and an AgentExchange ecosystem of more than 7,000 app integrations and 900 partners (Salesforce vs Zendesk).
  • Your work is cases, not conversations. You manage service contracts and entitlements, advanced case management or incident management, which Service Cloud includes from its middle editions up (Salesforce: Service Cloud pricing), or field service, which Salesforce sells alongside it.
  • You want the contact center from one vendor. Salesforce's Contact Center adds voice, digital channels, workforce management and quality management that reviews every human and AI interaction (Salesforce: Contact Center).
  • You have admins, developers or a partner to configure it, and you want that level of control.

Five signs it's heavier than your service needs

Service Cloud's depth is built for complex cases; an order-heavy consumer operation often needs something narrower. If two or more of these signs are true of your operation, an alternative deserves a proper look.

  1. Your busiest channels are add-ons. On Salesforce's pricing page, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Apple Messages for Business and SMS come through Enhanced Messaging, an additional per-user charge on the Core and Advanced editions and included only in Max. Salesforce Voice is likewise a separate purchase on Core and Advanced. Instagram isn't in the Enhanced Messaging list.
  2. Your orders live somewhere else. Service Cloud tracks orders held in Salesforce. If your store runs on Shopify or another platform, every order lookup and action on the ticket depends on an app or integration that someone installs, builds and maintains.
  3. Small changes wait in a queue. If changing a return rule, a routing rule or an agent's screen means a ticket to your Salesforce admin or partner, your service policy moves at the speed of that queue.
  4. You have to model AI cost before you can try it. Agentforce is priced by Flex Credits (per action), per conversation or per user, and the Help Agent per resolution (Salesforce: Agentforce pricing). Data Cloud is a separate purchase below Max, too.
  5. Most of your volume isn't a "case". Where-is-my-order, address changes, returns and refunds are short, repetitive conversations. If that's your queue, you're paying for case-management depth (entitlements, service contracts, advanced case management) you rarely use.

Before you replace it: three routes

Replacing Service Cloud is one of three routes.

1. Stay and simplify. Salesforce launched the Agentforce Help Agent in June 2026: an AI agent with guided setup that deploys across voice, web, portal and messaging, uses Salesforce Knowledge, comes with packaged actions for cases, appointments and order updates, and is charged only when it resolves an issue (Salesforce: Help Agent). Salesforce also completed its acquisition of Fin on 10 September 2026; Fin's AI agent works with the help desks companies already use, on live chat, email, WhatsApp, SMS, voice and Slack (Salesforce: Fin acquisition completed). This route fits when the problem is AI setup effort, not the platform.

2. Keep Salesforce as the record and add a specialist layer. Customer conversations, the AI agent and your agents' workspace move to a tool built for them, while cases, contacts or accounts stay in step with Salesforce. How each alternative connects back to Salesforce varies a lot, so we list it for every product below.

3. Replace Service Cloud. Service moves entirely, and Salesforce stays for sales and marketing or goes altogether. Agree early which history moves, which stays archived in Salesforce, and which system is the source of truth for the customer record.

How we chose

We started from the tools on the pages that rank for "Salesforce Service Cloud alternatives" and from the vendors' own Service Cloud comparison pages, then kept the ones whose documentation covers the channels and order work a consumer brand needs. We checked each against six questions, using only the vendor's documentation and pricing pages, on 28 September 2026:

  1. Channels, and where the AI works. We list the helpdesk's channels and the AI agent's channels separately.
  2. Orders and rules. Can agents and the AI act on an order, and under which rules?
  3. Phone. Native, an add-on or through a partner.
  4. Who builds and maintains the AI. Your team, a partner or the vendor.
  5. The Salesforce connection. What the product does with your Salesforce CRM record.
  6. Fit for volume. Several brands, ticket routing and review of AI and human conversations.

We didn't test the products hands-on, and we don't compare prices; we say whether pricing is published and link to it. Packaging changes often, so check the linked pages.

What we left out. Zoho Desk appears on most ranking lists, which recommend it mainly for teams already on Zoho and for cost-sensitive buyers; our guide to Zoho Desk pricing sets out its plans. We left out enterprise contact-center and engagement suites such as Genesys Cloud CX and Sprinklr Service: a team that finds Service Cloud heavy is rarely looking for another platform of that size. Lists written for internal IT and HR help desks (ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, Slack-based tools) answer a different question. Fin and the Help Agent are covered above because they are now Salesforce products.

The seven at a glance

Flowcall, which publishes this list, comes first; Service Cloud is shown last for reference. The numbers are for navigation, not a ranking.

The 7 Salesforce Service Cloud alternatives

1. Flowcall

Best for: Consumer brands whose volume is order, delivery, return and refund conversations on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, email and phone, who want an AI Agent and AI Helpdesk that Flowcall's team sets up and keeps improving with them, and who may want to keep Salesforce as the record while they do.

What it does well. Flowcall combines an AI Agent with an AI Helpdesk. WhatsApp, Instagram DM, Messenger, email and live chat conversations arrive in one inbox alongside phone calls, and when the same customer writes on another channel while their issue is open, Flowcall keeps it on the same ticket, with the whole history visible. Comments on your Instagram and Facebook posts and reels, and @mentions of your brand, are handled too: the AI sorts each one, replies publicly from your saved replies, moves support and pre-sales questions into a private DM that continues in the inbox, and hides spam and abuse. With Customer 360, the ticket shows the customer's orders, delivery, payments and refunds from connected systems: Shopify natively, and WooCommerce, Magento, Unicommerce and courier tools such as ClickPost and Shiprocket through configured connectors.

The AI Agent runs the same workflows on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, live chat and email, and on calls through the Voice AI agent, which answers and makes calls and gives every call a recording, transcript and ticket. Your procedures for returns, refunds, cancellations and warranty claims become workflows, and your rules decide what the AI may do: required checks, eligibility conditions and approvals must pass before a refund, cancellation or replacement. Each workflow is run against simulated customer conversations before launch and after every change. Flowcall's team configures the workflows and builds the integrations they need, then reviews QA findings and policy changes and updates the setup; you approve changes before they go live.

Field service runs in Flowcall too. With Flowcall's field service management, service requests that need a home visit become technician jobs, booked by the AI Agent from a WhatsApp or email conversation or created by an agent, and a pin code and product table picks the service partner, whose team lead assigns a technician. Technicians work the job in a mobile app, with a service report, photos and spare-part requests, and each status, from spare required to resolved, shows on the customer's ticket.

Alongside Service Cloud. Flowcall can keep Salesforce as your system of record. Through an integration built for your account, its AI creates and searches Salesforce cases and uses contact and account data. AI Auto QA can also run on top of Service Cloud, reviewing the conversations your agents handle there for inconsistent answers and customers asked to repeat themselves. For head-to-head comparisons, see Flowcall vs Zendesk and Flowcall vs Freshdesk.

Not the fit if you want one vendor for sales, marketing and service: Flowcall runs customer service and keeps Salesforce as your CRM.

Pricing: not published; Flowcall shares pricing on a call.

2. Kustomer

Best for: Enterprise consumer brands that like Salesforce's single customer record but want it built around conversations rather than cases.

What it does well. Kustomer includes email, chat, SMS, voice, WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram (Kustomer's pricing page). Its AI agents work across chat, email, SMS, WhatsApp and voice from the customer's full timeline: purchase history, past conversations and loyalty status (Kustomer: AI agents). Human agents can cancel or refund Shopify order items from Kustomer (Kustomer: Shopify actions). Its Salesforce integration shows Sales Cloud accounts, leads and opportunities on the customer's timeline, matched by email (Kustomer: Salesforce integration).

Limits. Voice and WhatsApp are billed pay as you go, and Kustomer says some configuration may need a statement of work and an implementation fee. Your team builds the AI agents and their tools. The integration page says the current version shows Salesforce data in Kustomer, not the other way round, so confirm what reaches Salesforce.

Pricing: on request; Kustomer doesn't publish one-size-fits-all pricing. We also cover Kustomer pricing separately.

3. Gladly

Best for: Large consumer brands where phone is a big channel and you want each customer's history in one continuous conversation rather than separate cases.

What it does well. Voice is built into Gladly, with a customisable IVR and no third-party telephony, alongside email, SMS, chat and social messaging; email is handled without a ticket or case number (Gladly: features overview). Gladly AI works on voice and IVR, email, chat, SMS, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp, and its Action Guides take action in apps such as Shopify, with templates for Shopify order tracking and cancellation and for Loop Returns (Gladly: new to Gladly AI).

Limits. Gladly lists Salesforce among its integrations, but the listing doesn't say what data moves or in which direction. Gladly is organised around the customer rather than cases, so if your reporting, SLAs and back-office handoffs in Salesforce are built on cases, check how they map (our reading of its docs, not a documented limit). Your team builds and tunes the Guides.

Pricing: on request (Gladly's pricing page). We also cover Gladly alternatives separately.

4. Gorgias

Best for: Shopify and Shopify Plus brands that want a self-serve helpdesk and AI agent built around the store, and don't need service data in Salesforce.

What it does well. From a ticket, human agents can refund, cancel, edit or duplicate a Shopify order and change the shipping address (Gorgias: Shopify actions). Its AI Agent handles email, chat, SMS, Instagram DMs, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, and can cancel an order, process a return or update a shipping address. Those actions are opt-in: you choose which ones the AI Agent may take and the conditions for each (Gorgias: AI Agent explained).

Limits. The AI Agent needs a connected Shopify store, with one AI Agent per store (Gorgias: set up AI Agent). Gorgias's app directory doesn't list a Salesforce app; you'd connect one through its HTTP integrations or API. Voice and SMS are paid add-ons, and AI answering of calls comes through a third-party app (Gorgias: Voice). Your team sets up and tunes the AI Agent.

Pricing: published on Gorgias's pricing page, by monthly ticket volume rather than per agent, with AI Agent charged when it resolves a conversation. We also cover Gorgias pricing and Gorgias alternatives separately.

5. Zendesk

Best for: Large, multi-brand support organisations with admins to run a broad platform, especially if support covers more than orders and Salesforce stays as the sales CRM.

What it does well. Zendesk's social messaging covers WhatsApp, Instagram Direct, Facebook Messenger, LINE, WeChat and Apple Messages for Business, alongside email, web messaging, voice and SMS (Zendesk: social messaging). AI agents can be added to WhatsApp and other social channels (Zendesk: AI agent on WhatsApp), and procedures let an AI agent ask for information, check a condition and run an integration such as an order lookup (Zendesk: procedures). The Zendesk for Salesforce integration syncs tickets to Salesforce cases and keeps accounts and contacts in step, on every Suite plan (Zendesk: ticket sync to Salesforce).

Limits. Your team writes, tests and maintains the procedures. In Zendesk's new AI agents experience, each AI agent works on one type of channel, so messaging and email need separate agents (Zendesk: new AI agents experience). AI on calls depends on your plan and line and carries extra connection charges. Ticket attachments don't sync to Salesforce.

Pricing: published on Zendesk's pricing page, mainly per seat with AI agent resolutions billed by use. We also cover Zendesk pricing separately.

6. Freshdesk Omni

Best for: Teams that want a self-serve helpdesk with published prices and WhatsApp and Instagram in one inbox, and have the in-house skills to build their own AI actions.

What it does well. Freshdesk Omni manages email, web chat, WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram from one inbox (Freshdesk: getting started with Omni). Its AI Agent can take new WhatsApp, web chat, Instagram and Facebook conversations first and hand them to human agents (Freshdesk: AI Agent automations). In AI Agent Studio, teams build API actions that chain calls, such as fetching an order and then starting a refund, and can ask the customer to confirm first (Freshdesk: API actions). The Salesforce Connector app shows Salesforce leads, contacts and accounts, with their cases and opportunities, on the ticket, lets agents create cases, tasks and opportunities from it, and syncs contacts and accounts with the Connector apps add-on (Freshdesk: Salesforce Connector).

Limits. Check which product you're quoted: Freshdesk without Omni covers email, Facebook and a basic web chat. Your team builds and tests the AI actions, and Freshdesk recommends testing write actions such as refunds in a sandbox first. Phone is a separate Freshworks product.

Pricing: published on the Freshdesk Omni pricing page. We also cover Freshdesk pricing separately.

7. HubSpot Service Hub

Best for: Companies moving CRM and service off Salesforce together onto one suite, or already running marketing or sales on HubSpot.

What it does well. HubSpot's customer agent answers on email, chat, forms, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, handles inbound calls, and can take action in HubSpot's CRM, Shopify and other tools (HubSpot: customer agent). The HubSpot–Salesforce integration syncs contacts, companies, deals and activities between the two, on Professional and Enterprise plans (HubSpot: connect HubSpot and Salesforce), so sales can stay on Salesforce while service moves.

Limits. WhatsApp is on the Professional and Enterprise plans, which also carry a one-time onboarding fee (HubSpot's pricing page). Instagram isn't among the channels its pricing and customer agent pages list. Your team configures the agent and its actions.

Pricing: published, per seat, with the customer agent drawing HubSpot Credits per resolution. We also cover HubSpot Service Hub pricing and HubSpot Service Hub alternatives separately.

How to choose: test one order and one Salesforce record

Demos follow the vendor's happy path. Take one real order from last month and run it through every product on your shortlist, in a trial or a demo on your own data, including your own Salesforce org:

Test What to do It passes if
1. The AI on your channel Ask about the order on WhatsApp The AI answers on WhatsApp with the order's status and asks only for what it doesn't already have
2. Rules before action Ask for a return outside your window, then inside it It declines or escalates the first and completes the second in your order system
3. Changing channel Follow up by email, then call, as the same customer Everything lands on one ticket with the order attached
4. The handover Ask for an agent The agent gets the conversation, a summary, the order and what's left to do
5. The Salesforce record Open the customer in Salesforce afterwards The case, contact or activity you need is there, or you've decided it doesn't need to be
6. A policy change Change your return window by a week You know who makes the change, how it's tested and how long it takes

Test 3 is the heart of omnichannel customer service: the customer, the issue and the order travel when they change channel. Test 6 is where the gap between a platform your admins configure and a tool the vendor runs with you shows up.

Then ask every vendor three questions:

  • Who builds and maintains this? Name the person, on your team or theirs, who writes the workflows, connects the order system and Salesforce, tests changes and fixes the AI when a policy changes.
  • What moves, and what stays? Ask which Service Cloud history the vendor can bring across, in what shape, and what stays archived in Salesforce.
  • What does it cost in our peak month? Vendors charge by seats, ticket volume, AI resolutions, conversations or credits. Ask for a written quote at your normal volume and at your busiest month's.

If Flowcall looks like a fit, book a demo and we'll walk through these six tests in Flowcall, with your Salesforce questions in the room. Qualifying brands get a free proof of concept on the service problem they most need solved, built with their team and tested before anything goes live.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Salesforce and Service Cloud?

Salesforce is the company and its CRM platform. Service Cloud is its customer service product on that platform, covering cases, knowledge, routing, the contact center and field service, sold alongside products such as Sales Cloud and Commerce Cloud. Some vendors and review sites now call it Agentforce Service; Salesforce's own pricing page still calls it Service Cloud.

What are good alternatives to Salesforce Service Cloud?

For order-heavy consumer brands: Flowcall, Kustomer, Gladly and Gorgias are built for that work; Zendesk and Freshdesk Omni are broad helpdesks your team configures; HubSpot Service Hub suits companies moving their CRM too. To stay on Salesforce, its Help Agent and Fin are lighter ways to add AI.

Does Salesforce Service Cloud support WhatsApp?

Yes. WhatsApp comes through Enhanced Messaging, which also covers Facebook Messenger, Apple Messages for Business and SMS. On Salesforce's pricing page it's an additional per-user charge on the Core and Advanced editions and included in Max. For what the channel needs to work well, see our guide to WhatsApp for customer service.

Can I keep Salesforce CRM and use a different helpdesk?

Yes. Zendesk, Freshdesk, Kustomer and HubSpot document Salesforce connections, and Flowcall builds one per account. They differ in what they sync and in which direction, so decide first which system owns the customer record and the case history.

Is Fin, formerly Intercom, part of Salesforce now?

Yes. Salesforce completed the acquisition on 10 September 2026 and says Fin works with the help desks companies already use. For a Salesforce customer it's another way to add an AI agent without rebuilding Service Cloud. If you're weighing the Intercom helpdesk itself, see our guide to Intercom alternatives.
